Exam Paper Author.

The Author: The exam paper on this site are all written by Bob Yeamans who currently holds a number of teaching roles in colleges across the West London area.

Shortly after completing an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer Bob carried out further studies moving into the field of control engineering. Over the years he has been exposed to many changes in industrial production techniques including the introduction of microprocessor based ‘smart’ measurement and control systems, PLCs, DCS and SCADA systems. He has worked both at shop floor and management levels in the Food and Drink, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Construction and Utility Industries involving the installation, commissioning and maintenance of automatic sequential electrical and process control systems.

Projects carried out under Bycon Ltd include the installation programming and commissioning of PLC controlled conveyor systems at Heathrow and Gatwick airports, development of ISO 9002 calibration systems for a major food processing company (accreditation achieved at first attempt) and providing instrumentation and calibration development and electrical maintenance in the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries.

Bob also has worked in further education and skills training including four years as a lecturer in Electrical Installation at East Berkshire College. He carried on afterwards back in industry whilst teaching PLC systems at evening classes. He has developed and delivered multiskilling courses for many blue chip companies throughout the country encompassing mechanical to electrical conversion courses; measurement and control; PLCs; pneumatics and maintenance studies. He has been a guest lecturer at Brunel University (subject - ISO 9002 calibration systems).

Shortly after arriving back from completing a contract in Nigeria, developing engineering training courses, Bob has divided his time between further industrial work and teaching evening classes on the City and Guilds IEE Wiring Regulations and Inspection and Test courses.

Having just completed a spell as principle qualified supervisor with a national electrical safety inspection company he went back into teaching City and Guilds electrical courses both in the private sector and for local colleges around the West London and Hertfordshire areas.

All this adds up to 45 years experience covering ‘hands on’ electrical and control engineering with over 20 years in either part time or full time teaching. Bob has gained awards including a degree in electronics and control engineering, a professional graduate certificate in education and approximately 15 City and Guilds certificates in electrical installation, inspection and test, 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and several other safety and electrically related qualifications. Bob is currently a Member of the Institute for Learning.
